Lacrosse World Series Championship Journey

In late 2022, Owen's Heroes handpicked a lacrosse team to compete in the Lacrosse World Series Championship.  This is a highly competitive event that requires the teams to qualify in their US Region before even being invited to the Summer World Championship, comprised of 25 teams from all over the world.  

This gave our charity an AMAZING opportunity.  Not only did the young men get to play a game they love, but they also had an phenomenal platform to raise awareness for Children with Type 1 Diabetes.  That is...in short...the mission for Owen's Heroes. (Read more about Owen's Story)

In February, 21 amazing young men from across Florida went to Georgia to battle it out in the South US Qualifier.  On day one, we played all of the four other teams in our division.... and WON ALL OF THEM.  4-0 on Day 1!!  On Day 2, the team won the Semifinal game, but lost in the Championship Qualifier by one goal to a great 3D Georgia team.  Regardless, because we reached  the Championship game, we QUALIFIED!

In early June, the team played a warm up tournament at the Tampa Jam... and won the tournament championship!  They went undefeated.

And finally, our Owen's Heroes team traveled to Charlotte, NC in late June, to play in the World Series Championship.  Although we didn't bring home the title, our boys played very well, (went 3-2), had a blast with their friends, and truly raised awareness of Type 1 Diabetes.  In addition, Owen was name "Team Captain" at the awards banquet!
